Today in New York City, we pay tribute to all the heroes of the First World War who gave their lives for freedom, peace, honor, and the dignity of humanity
15. May 2026.
This memorial, bearing the powerful words of “In Flanders Fields,” remains an enduring symbol of remembrance, sacrifice, and our eternal responsibility to preserve peace and historical memory for future generations.
As a representative of Serbia, at this memorial gathering of remembrance and respect, I pay special tribute with deep respect to all the heroes from the United States who gave their lives during the First World War.
At the same time, with great pride and profound emotion, I remember all the heroes and brave warriors of my Serbian people who sacrificed their lives in the Great War defending freedom, honor, and their sacred Homeland.
Such gatherings are far more than acts of remembrance and commemoration — they stand as testimony to the timeless and eternal values of all humanity.
