His Excellency Vladimir Božović, PhD, Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in New York, had the pleasure of meeting with His Excellency Consul General of Ireland Gerland Angley at the Consulate General of Ireland in New York for a warm and productive exchange of views.

The two diplomats engaged in a cordial and constructive discussion on matters of mutual interest at both the bilateral and international levels, exploring opportunities to deepen cooperation between Serbia and Ireland in the areas of development, education, and cultural exchange, recognising the vital role that shared culture and heritage play in strengthening ties between nations. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to fostering an open and productive dialogue, grounded in mutual respect and a shared vision for future collaboration.

The forthcoming Expo 2027, to be hosted in Belgrade, was highlighted as a significant opportunity for both countries to strengthen their international presence and forge new partnerships on a global stage. Consul General Angley acknowledged the Expo as a valuable platform for broader engagement, and both sides expressed enthusiasm for Ireland's active participation in this landmark event, which promises to showcase Serbia and its partners to the world.

His Excellency also had the honour of attending the Consulate General of Ireland's First Friday Networking Breakfast, themed "Across the States: An Irish Cultural Atlas of America", a remarkable event co-hosted with the Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA). The morning featured an inspiring conversation with award-winning musician Cormac Begley and Chieftains legend Matt Molloy, moderated by Seán Potts, Director of Creative Development & Donor Engagement at ITMA. The event was a vivid celebration of the extraordinary depth and reach of Irish cultural heritage across America, and a powerful reminder of the role that music and tradition play in keeping communities connected across borders and generations.

The visit stood as a testament to the spirit of friendship and openness that defines the relationship between Serbia and Ireland, and to the enduring power of culture as a foundation for diplomatic ties. Both Consul Generals reaffirmed their dedication to deepening bilateral relations and maintaining a continuous and productive dialogue, with an eye toward concrete outcomes that will benefit both nations in the years ahead.
