Saint Sava’s Day Celebration at the Cathedral Church of Saint Sava and the Serbian Club in New York
Following the Holy Liturgy at the Cathedral Church of Saint Sava, which the Consul General attended together with members of the Serbian community, the celebration continued at the Serbian Club in Glendale. The event was organized by the Serbian Club in New York and the Cultural and Artistic Society “Opančići,” where a Saint Sava luncheon and an appropriate cultural and artistic program were held.
Father Živojin Jakovljević, the parish priest of the Cathedral Church of Saint Sava, expressed his gratitude to the Consul General for attending the celebration and for the support that the Consulate General provides to the activities of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian community, which contribute to the preservation of national and cultural heritage. On that occasion, he recalled the enduring significance of Saint Sava as a symbol of spiritual unity, enlightenment, and the national identity of the Serbian people, emphasizing his Christian and educational mission.
The celebration brought together numerous families, children, and members of the Serbian community.
After the blessing of the ceremonial Slava symbols, a fitting cultural and artistic program followed, performed by children, including recitations, choral songs, and a folklore performance by the Cultural and Artistic Society “Opančići.”
The celebration concluded with a formal Slava luncheon and socializing in a festive atmosphere.
