Organized by the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York, International Women’s Day was ceremonially marked at the Consulate General of India in New York
The Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in New York, headed by Consul General Vladimir Božović, PhD, nominated Prof. Radenka Marić, PhD, for this year’s Society of Foreign Consuls in New York (SOFC NY) award. Prof. Marić is a scientist and engineer in the field of renewable energy and the President of the University of Connecticut. She is an internationally recognized innovator and entrepreneur in clean energy technologies and energy sustainability, whose work has significantly contributed to the development of modern energy solutions.
As part of the ceremony, the consulates presented elements of their cultural and gastronomic traditions. The Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia showcased a selection of Serbian specialties and wines, contributing to cultural exchange and presenting the rich cultural heritage of Serbia. In the musical portion of the program, Danijela Veselinović performed Serbian compositions on the trumpet.
The event was also used as an opportunity to present EXPO 2027 in Belgrade to the attending diplomats and guests, highlighting that Serbia will become a place where ideas, technologies, and people from around the world meet, and presenting Belgrade as a modern European center of knowledge, creativity, and innovation.
The performance and presentation organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in New York attracted significant attention and positive reactions from the attendees.
Consul General Vladimir Božović emphasized the importance of marking International Women’s Day, highlighting the important role and contributions of women in all spheres of society, as well as the importance of continuing the fight for equality and equal opportunities for women. He also pointed to the importance of international cooperation and the connection of communities in New York in order to advance the position of women.
