Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York (SOFC) at the Consulate General
During the meeting, a constructive discussion was held on the Society’s forthcoming activities, with particular focus on program initiatives planned for 2026, including preparations for the celebration of International Women’s Day, the upcoming meeting with the organizing committee of the FIFA World Cup 2026 for the New York–New Jersey region, as well as strengthening cooperation with New York City institutions, including the New York City Police Department (NYPD).
Members of the Executive Committee also discussed new initiatives aimed at enhancing cooperation within the consular corps, including the introduction of regular working meetings, the development of a new Society website that would contribute to a more modern presentation and greater visibility of the Society’s activities, as well as further steps toward strengthening cooperation with local institutions and partners.
The meeting was also attended by a special guest, former New York City Commissioner for International Affairs Edward Mermelstein, who presented the “Global Partners NYC” initiative — a platform of the New York City Mayor’s Office aimed at strengthening cooperation between the City, the diplomatic community, international institutions, and the business sector, with the goal of fostering investment, innovation, and global partnerships.
The meeting was held in a spirit of open dialogue and cooperation, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening the role of the Society of Foreign Consuls as an important platform for advancing international cooperation and enhancing relations between member states and the United States of America.
