DAY OF SERBIAN UNITY, FREEDOM AND THE NATIONAL FLAG

On this day in 1918, the brave Serbian army, led by its heroic officers, broke through the Salonika Front, thus beginning the liberation of Serbia from occupation. That historic moment marked the dawn of a new era for the Serbian state and nation.

More than a century later, we remember the courage of our ancestors, but we also continue to fight for the same values: the right to freedom, equality, respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The Serbian people — in the homeland, in Kosovo and Metohija, and wherever they live — deserve the same rights and freedoms enjoyed by all European nations.

Our unity, harmony, and togetherness, along with the economic and military strength of Serbia, remain the cornerstone for preserving the freedom and identity of the Serbian nation. This is also our strongest guarantee for regional stability and the respect of international law.

We are especially proud of the Serbian tricolor that now flies, after more than 20 years of absence, in the very heart of Manhattan and New York City, following the arrival of the new Consul General, Vladimir Božović, PhD.
