At the invitation of the President of the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York and Consul General of Georgia in New York, Mrs. Maia Bartiaia, the Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in New York, Vladimir Božović, PhD, in his capacity as a member of the Executive Committee and Vice President of the Society, attended a visit and reception at the Georgian Orthodox Monastery in Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia.

On this occasion, he met with Georgian Bishop Sava, who studied in Belgrade and personally knows His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije, from whom he received a golden panagia.

The Consul General also visited the Church of St. Demetrius, where one of the icons depicts St. Nikolaj Velimirović of Žiča. Together with colleagues from the Executive Committee of the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York, he toured an exhibition and enjoyed presentations of traditional Georgian culture, songs, dances, and culinary specialties. The monastery estate is also the planned site of a new cathedral, and during his visit, Božović also met with the President of the Society of Foreign Consuls of Philadelphia, Mrs. Krista Bard.

The entire event took place in a spirit of peace, unity, and friendship, affirming love and public diplomacy as a bridge that connects nations, countries, cultures, faiths, and traditions.

Consul General Vladimir Božović, PhD, emphasized the importance of the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York continuing to visit religious sites and cultural landmarks, as has been the tradition in past years, such as the visit to the Hindu Temple in New Jersey. He noted that this visit to the Georgian Orthodox Monastery in Philadelphia represents a continuation of that practice, which can only contribute positively to diplomatic missions and the communities they serve.
