Consul General of the Republic of Serbia, attended the ceremonial observance of the International Day of Yoga
The central part of the event was a lecture delivered by the distinguished physician, spiritual teacher, and one of the world's foremost advocates of yoga, Dr. Padmashri Guruji H.R. Nagendra. In his address, he spoke about the universal significance of yoga as a philosophy of life, its role in preserving physical and mental well-being, and its contribution to building a more harmonious, healthy, and humane society.
Addressing the distinguished lecturer and the guests in attendance, Consul General Dr. Vladimir Božović recalled the remarkable friendship and spiritual connection between Nikola Tesla and Swami Vivekananda, two great thinkers and visionaries whose ideas transcended the boundaries of time, nations, and civilizations. He emphasized that Tesla and Vivekananda embodied a unique synthesis of scientific thought and spiritual wisdom, building bridges between East and West, science and spirituality. Their legacy, he noted, continues to testify to the power of dialogue, the exchange of knowledge, and the pursuit of universal values that unite humanity.
The Consul General further stressed that mutual respect, understanding of cultural diversity, and a willingness to cooperate constitute the foundations upon which lasting and stable relations among nations and states are built. In this context, he highlighted the traditional friendship between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of India, founded upon historical respect, the closeness of the two peoples, and a shared commitment to the values of peace, freedom, and international cooperation.
In addition to the Consul General of the Republic of Serbia, the Consul of the United Arab Emirates also addressed the gathering. The event was attended by the Consul General of Nepal, the Consul General of Peru, the Consul General of Malaysia, as well as numerous members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the international community.
The ceremony was held in an exceptionally warm and cordial atmosphere, reaffirming that the values promoted by yoga—peace, balance, tolerance, and unity—represent universal principles that bring people together across the world and contribute to the creation of a better, more harmonious, and more humane future for all.
