Business conference “JBiz Conference & Expo”
This important gathering brought together representatives of the U.S. government, the states of New Jersey and New York, representatives of more than 30 interstate chambers of commerce, as well as a large number of entrepreneurs, investors, diplomats, business leaders, and representatives of institutions from the United States, Israel, and other countries, creating an environment where integrity and global connectivity naturally meet. The goal of the event was to strengthen cooperation, encourage investment, and build lasting bridges of partnership. Dr. Božović emphasized that such events create spaces where communities, the business sector, and international partners empower one another.
In his address, Dr. Božović spoke on the topic “Business and Relations with Foreign States,” highlighting a simple but crucial truth: political and economic ties are inseparable. They move together, influence each other, and often determine each other’s direction. He pointed out that the most successful economies are those that understand that stable international relations create a reliable environment for investment and new projects. He emphasized that business cooperation often opens doors to deeper political understanding, while stable political relations create the conditions for new investments and long-term partnerships.
The Consul General particularly underlined the deep historical connection, mutual respect, and friendship between the Serbian and Jewish peoples, noting that this bond is rooted in shared history, experiences, and resilience. He reminded attendees that throughout history, both nations have shown exceptional perseverance in facing challenges, forming a strong foundation for their partnership today. Speaking about Serbia’s economic relations with Israel and the United States, Dr. Božović highlighted the growing presence of Israeli companies in Serbia, in real estate, agriculture, water management, energy, technology, and innovation, as well as the potential of the forthcoming Free Trade Agreement between Serbia and Israel, recognized as a joint strategic goal.
The Consul General stressed that relations between Serbia and the United States are entering a phase of intensive improvement and comprehensive strengthening of cooperation. He particularly emphasized the signing of the Strategic Energy Partnership Agreement in September 2024, as well as the agreement to launch a formal Strategic Dialogue between the two countries, which will further structure and enhance cooperation in numerous areas. In that context, the strategic dialogue between Serbia and the United States will be key to advancing cooperation in energy, the economy, defense, and education.
Dr. Božović devoted special attention to the IT sector, noting that Serbia is one of the leading IT hubs in Europe, with more than 125,000 experts and exports exceeding four billion dollars. He underlined that the United States is Serbia’s main IT partner, while cooperation with Israeli tech companies continues to deepen. He emphasized that technological partnerships contribute to the modernization of the economy and the creation of new highly qualified jobs.
He noted that Serbia today represents one of the most attractive investment destinations in Europe, with stable economic policies, a skilled workforce, and access to a market of more than one billion consumers through numerous free trade agreements.
In concluding his speech, Consul General Vladimir Božović invited all American and Jewish businesspeople to visit Serbia, meet its institutions and companies, and personally witness the potential and opportunities the country offers. He emphasized that Serbia believes in partnerships based on trust, honesty, a shared vision, and mutual respect, and that now is the right moment to open new investment opportunities and strengthen long-term relations.
