The Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in New York, Vladimir Božović, participated in the official launch of the American-Balkan Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), a platform dedicated to strengthening economic relations between the U.S. and the Balkan region. In his speech, the Consul General emphasized Serbia’s position as a regional leader in attracting foreign investments, with over $50 billion in foreign direct investments since 2000, including a record $4.5 billion in 2023 alone. He highlighted the importance of bilateral cooperation with the United States, as trade between the two countries now exceeds $1 billion annually. Božović underscored Serbia’s favorable business environment, strategic location, and highly skilled workforce, which have attracted major U.S. companies such as Microsoft, NCR, Philip Morris, and Cooper Tire. He also stressed the importance of regional collaboration, particularly through the Open Balkan initiative, which facilitates the free movement of goods, capital, and labor, making the Balkans a more attractive destination for global investors. The event gathered prominent business leaders, diplomats, and investors who engaged in panel discussions on enhancing economic cooperation. The establishment of ABCC marks a significant step forward in strengthening economic ties between the Balkans and the U.S., and the Consulate General of Serbia in New York remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote economic growth and regional integration.
