Travel to Serbia

Foreign nationals who have a valid US visa or lawful residence in the United States (green card) may enter the Republic of Serbia without visas and stay not longer than 90 days within six month period. Visa must be valid for the whole duration of stay in the Republic of Serbia. Also, foreign nationals who have a valid Schengen visa, UK visa or other European Union member-states visa may enter the Republic of Serbia without a visa and stay not longer than 90 days within six month period. The possibility of entering the Republic of Serbia without a visa is valid beginning November 8th, 2014.  Above does not apply to foreign nationals who are holders of emergency travel documents or travel documents for refugees and aliens.

 Stay in Serbia

Legal entities and individuals providing accommodation for foreign nationals with financial compensation, as well as persons being visited by foreign nationals, are required to register with the competent authority the visit of the foreign national within 24 hours from the provision of accommodation to a foreign national, or from the time of arrival of a foreign national for visiting purposes.

The foreign national is required to register with the relevant authority his/her stay at, and change of address of residence, within 24 hours from the date of arrival in the place of residence or from the date of the change of address of his/her stay.

The foreign national who has been granted permanent resident status is required to register his/her domicile and change of abode, within eight days from the date of arrival in the domicile or from the date of the change of the address.

ISSUING VISAS

American citizens do not need visas to travel to the Republic of Serbia.

Holders of U.S.Travel Documents (Permit to Re-enter, Refugee Travel Document) require a visa for entry into the Republic of Serbia.

TYPES OF VISAS

The types of visa are as follows:

I    short stay visa (VISA C)

II    transit visa (VISA B)

III    work visa (VISA D)


I VISA C (visa for a stay of up to 90 days)

Visa for a short stay is issued for tourist, business and other travel, for one, two or more entries into the Republic of Serbia.
Continuous residence of an alien with a short stay visa, or a total length of consecutive stays, cannot exceed 90 days within a period of six months from the date of first entry.
Visa for a short stay with multiple entries shall be issued with a validity period of up to one year. (Article 18 of the Foreigners Act)
Required documents:
1. Valid passport (passport must be valid for at least 90 days from the visa issue date).

2. Completed Visa Application Form
Form must be filled out clearly, in printed letters; the applicant must fill all columns/questions and state correct residential address in USA – no P.O. Box is acceptable.  For minor children the form is filled and signed by their parents.
3. Photo (Size 3,5cm x 4,5 cm)

4. Invitation letter – not older than 6 months
For a private visit, a certified invitation letter from a relative or a friend from Serbia is required

If applying for a business visa, please enclose (a) an official invitation from the company in Serbia, stating the nature of the business, expected duration of the visit as well as the name and address of the company or institution you are visiting, as well as (b) a letter from the U.S. company which you are representing.

For a tourist visit, a proof of paid travel arrangement (hotel reservation).
5. Proof of residence in the USA
(photocopy of Alien Registration Card, Working Permit, Student’s Visa)
6. Return ticket or Itinerary
(photocopy of International Driving License, Title and Insurance if you are traveling by car)
7. Proof of sufficient funds for staying in the Republic of Serbia

8. Stamped, self-addressed return envelope with pre-paid return postage
(envelope is not required if applying in person at the Consulate General)
• Fees and actual costs for a visa are $ 95. If the request is sent by mail it should contain one Money Order in the amount of $95. Visa application fee is non- refundable. If the visa is not approved the applicant will be refunded only the amount of $2.

• Citizens of Armenia, China, Mali, Pakistan, Syria pay only actual and handling costs for visa issuance in the amount of $ 2. If the request is sent by mail one Money Order in the amount of $2 should be enclosed.    
Note: Incomplete applications cannot be taken into consideration and will be returned to the applicants at their own expense.
The Consulate General reserves the right to request additional documentation.

II VISA B (Transit visa)
A transit visa is issued to all foreigners planning for a single, double or multiple transits through the territory of the Republic of Serbia.
A transit visa is valid for up to six months in addition; the duration of stay in the country per one transit shall not exceed five days.
A transit visa may be issued to a foreigner who has a visa to enter the country he/she is visiting or through whose territory he/she is continuing the travel, if he/she is not exempt from obtaining such a visa by an international agreement. (Article 17 of the Foreigners Act)
Required documents:

1. Valid passport (passport must be valid for at least 90 days from the visa issue date)

2. Completed Visa Application Form
Form must be filled out clearly, in printed letters; the applicant must fill all columns/questions and state correct residential address in USA – no P.O. Box is acceptable.  For minor children the form is filled and signed by their parents.
3. Photo (Size 3,5 cm x 4,5 cm)

4. Entry visa to the country to which you are traveling

If visa is not required for that country, other proof of stay in said country is required.

5. Proof of residence in the USA
(photocopy of Alien Registration Card, Working Permit, Student’s Visa)

6. Return ticket or Itinerary
(photocopy of International Driving License, Title and Insurance if you travel by car)

7. Proof of sufficient funds for transit through the territory of the Republic of Serbia

8. Stamped, self-addressed return envelope with pre-paid return postage
