Beginning of the professional career in the law practise

 

From 1995 to 1997, Božović was a trainee lawyer in the following cities:

 

Belgrade (Serbia)

Milwaukee (United States of America)

Chicago (United States of America.

 

After that, in 1997, he started his own law practice and opened the "Božović" law office in Belgrade.

 

Career development in: law practise, politics, executive structures in government and diplomacy.

 

During decades of work, Vladimir Božović performed the following tasks in the domains of advocacy, politics, executive structures and diplomacy:

Lawyer and head of the Department of Justice and Human Rights in the Coordination Center of the Government of the FRY and the Republic of Serbia for Kosovo and Metohija

Lawyer of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral

Deputy Minister of Police and General Inspector of the Department of Public Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia (2004-2007)

National coordinator for police and human rights of Serbia and Montenegro at the Council of Europe (2005)

Advisor to the Minister in the Cabinet of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia (on two occasions: 2012 and then 2017-2019)

State Secretary of the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs in charge of internal control and international cooperation (2012-2014)

Advisor to the Prime Minister responsible for regional cooperation and relations with religious communities (2015-2017)

Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Montenegro (2019-2023)

 

Prominient conferences

 

International conference "Civil Defense and Civil Society Preparation for Disaster Risk Prevention"

 

The conference was held in Baku and Gabala from March 11 to 14, 2013, and the organizers were the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the International Organization for Civil Defense, whose headquarters were in Geneva. 150 participants from 54 countries took part in the conference. They also discussed cooperation in the fight against organized crime, with special reference to the fight against high-tech crime, as well as cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking.

 

Conference "World Defense 2013, International Defense and Security"

 

The conference was held in Athens from April 2 to 3, 2013. The topics of the conference were international challenges - national security and defense strategy, border control and illegal migration, high-tech crime, civil protection and risk management, maritime security and European funds for the defense and security sector. On that occasion, Božović paid respect and recognition to the Greek police for the results achieved in the fight against corruption, pointing out that this fight is a priority in the work of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

 

 

Fifth Ministerial Conference of the Budapest Process "Silk Road Partnership for Migration"

 

The conference was held in Istanbul from April 18 to 20, 2013. On that occasion, Božović called on all participating countries, as well as international organizations, to show more understanding, solidarity and humanity, judging that we live in a world of multi-communication with insufficient humanity, which is particularly visible in the rising issue of migration.

 

     42. European regional conference of Interpol member states in Budapest

 

In Budapest, from May 13 to 16, 2013, he led the delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia that participated in the 42nd European Regional Conference of Interpol Member States in Budapest, which was attended by 50 European countries. During the work of the conference, on his initiative, the Republic of Serbia was nominated as a member of the temporary board of the European sub-directorate of INTERPOL, and then, in addition to France and Germany, as a member of the election team in connection with the appointment of a new acting director in this sub-directorate.

 

Round tables "In search of a solution for the north of Kosovo"

 

 

At the invitation of the Council for Inclusive Governance, he attended the round tables held in Istanbul, Skopje and Belgrade, on the topic "In search of a solution for the north of Kosovo", where he had notable presentations. The goal of the meeting was to continue the discussion started on finding a solution for the institutions in the north of Kosovo, as well as for the relations between Belgrade and Pristina. The round tables discussed topics related to the establishment of functional local self-governments in the north and the continuation of the normalization of the situation.

 

 

Other significant activities

 

In the period from October 14 to 17, 2013, he took part in a meeting of the global community, and in connection with the adoption of strategic guidelines for international police in peace operations, organized by the United Nations - the UN Department for Peace Operations and the Institute for Global security "Durham" University of London. At the meeting, the draft Framework of Strategic Guidelines for the UN Police in International Peace Operations was analysed, which was resulted creating five regional conferences held in 2012 and 2013.

 

In May 2015, he was appointed as a member of the Coordinating Committee for Gender Equality, and in June 2015; and, as the President of the Government's Special Working Group for Drafting the Draft Law on Gender Equality, he led the activities on the drafting of the legal act regulating this matter.

 

In the same period, as a representative of the Cabinet of the Prime Minister, he joined the work of the Commission for determining program content and proposing management models for the Memorial Complex at the "Old Belgrade Fairground", where he is still active today.

 

In his capacity as an advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, in 2018, at the UN in New York, he led the state delegation at the exhibition dedicated to the Nazi camp in Jasenovac.

 

In August 2018, at the annual conference of the European Society of Criminology (18th Annual Conference of the European Society of Criminology "Crimes Against Humanity - Implications for Modern Criminology"), held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, he presented on the topic "A Comparison of the Serbian Public and Police Officer Views about Police Misconduct".

 

 

In September 2018, at the international conference in Ljubljana "Twelfth Biennial International Conference Criminal Justice and Security in Central and Eastern Europe - From Common Sense to Evidence-based Policy-making" he gave a notable presentation on the topic "Shades of Blue: Exploring the Code of Silence in Croatia and Serbia".

 

In October 2018, he became a member of GSN - Global Sustainability Network, a worldwide network of influential people and organizations from various areas of life - representatives of governments of countries from all over the world, religious communities, media, non-governmental organizations; the goal was the fight against modern slavery, respectively, achievement of global Goal 8 - Decent work and economic development.

 

He was a participant in numerous debates, conferences and gatherings in the United States Senate and Congress. He was also in constant contact with the numerous Serbian diaspora and the Serbian Orthodox Church in the USA.

 

Since 2001, he has been a participant in several prayer breakfasts organized by the Family Foundation, under the auspices of the President of the USA, as well as several European and regional gatherings of the organization in the name of the principle of Jesus Christ. Also, he was one of the main organizers of the first Balkan prayer breakfast in Belgrade in 2005.
